SafeStart Concepts Toolbox Talks
This video series provides leaders with instructions on preparation and delivery of successful ToolBox Talks on SafeStart concepts. It is recommended that they be watched in order and before each relevant ToolBox Talk takes place.
To deliver any ToolBox Talk in the series, leaders will need:
- the workbook on which the talk is based
- a copy of the notes for leaders, and
- participant handouts
The talks should be delivered only after SafeStart Core training for each unit has been completed by almost all (or ideally, by all) of the group participating in the ToolBox Talk, either through classroom delivery or through self study. This is important as the ToolBox Talks are meant to reinforce information the participants are already familiar with.
The talks should also be delivered in order because each talk builds on the concepts discussed in the previous ones.
Leaders should ensure that they are confident in their knowledge and understand the concepts they are presenting. A review of the workbook pages related to the talk may be necessary to make sure the concepts are fresh and clear in their mind.
Questions, comments or talking points related to each concept should be tailored to the employees’ workplace and/or department to make them more relevant and memorable. These should be prepared in advance.
